Once the PSU is in place it's basically locked down, no screws required! When I took a dremel to the interior clips and posts to make room, I also routed a small channel at the edge of where the motherboard sits against the sidewall. The power supply and the motherboard are wedged together so tightly that they don't shift at all. It hold surprisingly well for cheap removable stuff.
I found this stuff extremely useful for other parts of the build as well. The 2.5" HDD is mounted under the CD door with a little bit of 3M mounting putty. The power cable hangs out of the back of the unit a bit when in use but since I can't see it, it doesn't bother me. The USB goes right to the motherboard header.Īll of the rear ports are concealed behind the battery door. The plate is a small piece of Kydex that I mounted with kwikweld. The only hint that it's not a stock Saturn is, of course, the USB ports at the front. No extra holes for ports or vents of any kind. I wanted to make the system as stealth as possible so there are absolutely no modifications to the exterior.
I also figured I'd try to stuff a whole PC inside because a Pi would just be too easy Here's the internals list:ĮCS Elitegroup Mini ITX H81H3-I Motherboard My original Sega Saturn has been sitting, broken, for years and years. So I've built 70% of a cabinet twice only to have to disassemble it because of reasons/space I've still got the building bug (it doesn't ever seem to go away) so I've tackled a smaller project.
